At our Pre-School we believe that a healthy balanced diet is as important as an engaging, stimulating environment.
Hot lunches are provided via Surrey county council on a 3 week rolling menu and cooked on Furzefield school site daily. Dietary requirements such as halal, vegetarian and allergy specific needs can be catered for. Please note our preschool is a NUT FREE environment due to numerous children having severe nut allergies.
The current menu can be viewed following this link: http://www2.myschoollunch.co.uk/surrey/primary-schools/about-surrey-primary-school-meals/menu/
If you are paying for your child’s afternoon session a hot lunch is included, if the afternoon session is covered by your child’s free early entitlement you have the option of paying £2.50 a day for us to provide a cooked meal or you provide a healthy packed lunch.
We operate a snack bar system allowing the children access to water, milk and vegetables and fruit throughout their day. This system ensures that we are not interrupting their learning by having a set snack time and enables children to be able to satisfy their hunger or thirst when they need to.
The children often take part in cooking activities such as making fruit smoothies, homemade pizzas or a fruit salad and making their own picnic lunch. Allowing the children to get involved, touch, taste and smell the ingredients helps them to learn about eating a balanced diet, introduces the key elements of a healthy lifestyle and get excited about wholesome foods.
